Kein Sterbenswort ist ein absolut spannendes Buch. There have been enough detailed reviews of plot, acting, and video quality that I won't bother you with my amateur musings.
Though this is a foreign film, it was coded to play in regular US Blu-Ray players. I am such a fan of foreign mysteries that I bought a region-free Blu-Ray player to take advantage of the variety of films and TV series - as well as the often lower prices.

Overall, a very good movie that moved along quickly and you never really knew what was the truth till pretty much the end of it.
Someone recommended this movie when it was in an "art" theater in San Francisco. We saw it Everyone we've told about the movie seems to have agreed with our opinion The star of the movie is a Frenchman named Francois Cluzet.

It helps if you understand a little French and don't mind reading subtitles. But, excellent movie. Based on a book that had a little different content and ending as is so often the case.
The book was much more elaborate and detailed than the movie. The movie ending I thought was excellent. Very satisfying to watch.
My wife thought it was a re-make of The Fugitive, but although I recognize the similar theme, this movie was much more thoughtful and not all action.
I enjoyed it and was never bored. This is a stylish, Hitchcockian thriller from France, based on an American novel by one of my favorite authors, Harlan Coben.
I saw it in a theater twice, but the DVD is a special treat. Gorgeous picture and sound, and the subtitles are easier to read than on the big screen.
Francois Cluzet is wonderful in the lead, and everyone else is very good, too. The tension never lets up for a minute, and there's one particularly jaw-dropping chase sequence with Cluzet performing all his own stunts that's truly unforgettable.
A really solid thriller, start to finish. Highly recommended. I thought this was a terrific thriller -- one of the best I've seen since "The Silence of the Lambs" 20 years ago.
It gets you involved within the first five minutes and builds to a breathtaking pace. The main character, Dr. Beck, is an incredibly sympathetic guy played wonderfully by Francois Cluzet and I really felt his sadness and terror and shock as he worked to unravel the mystery of who killed his beloved wife.
There were good plot twists, scary villains, great chase scenes, and a variety of good roles for women, which is always welcome.
Some viewers have complained of plot holes and lack of characterization; it all seemed pretty clear and compelling to me. If necessary, a simple rewinding to the climactic scenes should help everyone get all the details down.
All in all, I thought "Tell No One" was stylishly done and a very satisfying entertainment. Folks who hate reading subtitles should know that the DVD features a complete English dubbed track.
Taking that route, however, will deprive you of the pleasure of hearing Kristin Scott-Thomas's flawless French!
I purchased this as a gift for a friend as it was one of my favorite novels which was adapted for the screen. She had not heard of the film but liked it as much as I did.
It's a great character study, a nice mystery and has a fine ending. I recommend it for fans who like movies with a bit more depth and excitement.
Thanks to Amazon, I have added another fan to the long list. I'd seen this movie on DVD years ago. What I didn't realize is that it's from a Harlan Coben book look him up.

At over two hours it has the distinction of completely clearing my brain of any fuzziness or cobwebs that inhabited that orifice, like a Karcher that's been inserted in my ear and kept full on for the whole minutes.
A stonking journey into the unknown and I felt sympathy for the main bewildered character played superbly by Francois Cluzet who reminded me so much of a younger Dustin Hoffman.
If you can stick with the twisty turney plot the film becomes exciting and rewarding but be aware that it's one of those films that may lose you early on as there are so many seemingly unexplained threads that are only finally revealed at the very end.

Not only a good story but great directing from Guillaume Canet of a superb cast. Tell No One has a plot that although probably unlikely if you analyse it too much, is told with great pace and it is easy to get drawn into wanting to know what will happen next.
The English subtitles are embedded and are not optional. For anyone who likes to look behind the scenes on films, sadly there are no extra features.
But the DVD is still a great film. The film opens in a relaxed way 8 years before where a group of friends are enjoying a weekend in the country.
They next revisit a childhood sweetheart location by a lake. Margot and Alexander Beck have a night swim. They soon argue and she swims to the other side to the car.
He hears a scream, then she is abducted, he is knocked unconscious when he swims over. At first he's a suspect, but Margot's murder is blamed on a serial killer.
He commemorates his wife every year. Then 2 bodies are found near the site which reopens the case. The police are interested in Alexandre.
His past is unearthed too when he receives mystery emails with webcam footage suggesting his wife is alive. We are in suspense as he tries to confirm this and contact her.

We are in suspense as he tries to confirm this and contact her. The film is a strong psychological noir thriller superbly scripted from a powerful Harlan Coben novel.
The story has more twists and turns than a rattlesnake. Francois Cluzet plays the haunted widower. The film is relocated to France by Guillaume Canet,actor-director.
There is a Hitchcockian ambivalence in his portrayal and a meeting in a public park straight out of Hitchcock. There are episodes of energetic action, chases as in French Connection, sprinting through the markets and motorways of suburban Paris.
A tough criminal he gets onside helps him evade police and criminal killers. The music in the film is also good, although there are a few times where the choice of song initially seems confusing, it soon fits in well with the scene, and the choices are strong and varied.
The film is soon to be remade in America by Ben Affleck, but will it have the je ne sais pas? It is a strong tension builder and has you surprised and on edge for a few key moments with a slowly developing tension from the beginning.
That said, the ending isn't a huge twist that shocks you, but it is a bit of a surprise. The French cinema has a more naturalistic way of conveying emotion, though facial expression, movement, gestures, silence and pace.
I'd recommend this film as a standout of the noughties, with a clever use of time's passage. A stylistic improvement on the book. This will run and run Report abuse.
Tell No-One turns out to be a rather good French thriller and a distinct improvement on actor-director Guillaume Canet's first directorial effort Mon Idole.
The early overhead shots of a couple driving through the countryside summon up echoes of Red Lights, Harry, He's Here to Help and The Vanishing in particular though the film doesn't really match up to them, at least his influences are impeccable as it sets up the back-story that sees Francois Cluzet's wife murdered.
Fast forward eight years and the good doctor is still suspected by the police, especially when two bodies are unearthed near the murder scene that threaten his alibi.
And then there's an email he receives with what looks like live footage of his very much alive wife There's a good supporting cast - a mostly excellent Andre Dussolier as the antagonistic father-in-law, Jean Rochefort showing once again that he's a much better actor when he doesn't dye his hair to look younger, Nathalie Baye as a razor-sharp lawyer, 36 Quai des Orfevres director Olivier Marchal as a vicious hood and even a less-autopilot-than-usual Kristin Scott-Thomas maybe she should just stick to French-language parts?
If it has a problem - apart from one credulity-straining moment near the end regarding motivation that isn't so much a plot-hole as the Channel Tunnel - it's that at the end of the day, it's JUST a thriller.
There aren't enough lingering questions throughout the movie or any real attempt to create doubt as to whether the hero may really have murdered his wife as the police and media still suspect.
The twists are satisfying enough but no great revelations, and it's a disappointment that it finds itself forced into an Irving-the-Explainer ending where the plot is explained at gunpoint.
Yet despite the lack of depth, it's a satisfyingly well-executed thriller, and if that's enough for you, you could do a lot worse with two hours of your time.
Oh yes, and the eagle-eyed can spot one of French producer Christophe Rossingnon's sporadic blink-and-you'll-miss-it cameos as a cop.
The two-disc DVD offers a good selection of extras: 20 deleted scenes but not with the optional commentary listed on the French DVD , a minute making of documentary, out-takes, brief soundbite interviews with Guillaume Canet and Kristin Scott Thomas, UK trailer, the last takes of the various key players on the film and, as an Easter Egg, hair and makeup tests and snippets of random onset footage totalling some 8 minutes.
You'll have to be patient if you want to see the latter since they can only be accessed after leaving the main menu on disc two playing for a couple of minutes, after which a message will appear on the in-tray above the Play All option.
There's also an earlier short film directed by Canet, I Can't Sleep as well. The disc has a decent 2. They're watching.
The police begin to suspect that Alex may be responsible for these murders and the murder of his wife. Meanwhile others are watching Alex and seem to have an interest in his investigation into his wife's murder.
A good little thriller, this grabbed my interest from the start, with some great performances. Although you can piece most of the puzzle together yourself and can guess where the story is going the film still manages to hold your interest for its 2 hour running time.
