Top reviews from other countries. I tried several times to watch this but it's just all about flag waving and Chinese communist propaganda.
There's far too much information in far too small a film. There's no emotional attachment to anyone and I got fed up of hearing about martyrs to the cause.
If this film had taken its time, developed its characters and set the scenes better I might have cared what was going on.
My guess is this was a cynical ploy to cash in on Chinese patriotism with lots of flag waving and martyrdom. It's rather boring. I was expecting a lot more action but not realising this was a historical renactment of certain instants of history so for me I will be keeping it filed away for study, Having said that I did find that some of the actual facts had been glossed over and an interpretation of events was portrayed relying on heresay or conjecture rather than actual fact.
So the story teller has taken quite a lot of poetic licence.
